Bone Grafting
Bone Grafts are used by dental professionals in oral surgery to increase the volume and density of bone within the jaw. Bone grafts are often used for implant dentistry to ensure that an implant maintains a strong foundation in the mouth, however, bone graft placement may also be used to address other oral health problems such as gum disease or injury. Bone grafting replaces lost bone tissue and helps to stimulate more bone growth. Placing a bone graft may also occur if a patient has a tooth extracted and is still exploring further options for replacement. Sites that have a bone grafting procedure need time to remedy in the mouth, and it is important to follow any post-operative instructions given to ensure proper healing.
