Dental Fillings in Woonsocket
Dental fillings are very common procedures in restorative dentistry which allows for areas of minor tooth decay to be treated. A tooth is comprised of many layers and fillings allow for teeth with minor decay to be treated and aid in stopping the spread of decay to further layers of the tooth. If tooth decay spreads deeper, the tooth may need to be restored in other ways. An appointment for fillings may take anywhere from 40 – 90 minutes depending on how many teeth are being treated and the location of those teeth within the mouth.
Within this appointment one of our doctors will use a local anesthetic to numb the area being treated for patient comfort. Then the affected tooth/teeth will be prepped as the decay is removed. Once the decay is all removed, the tooth will be filled with a tooth-colored or silver filling that will allow for the restoration of structure and function. The tooth/teeth will then be adjusted and contoured to ensure a proper bite.
